The Fire and Rescue
Advisory Commission meets the third
Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at Fire Station
#1, 410 East Fifth Street.
In
1995, after eleven months of comprehensive study by
the Fire Protection Master Planning Task Force, a Fire
Protection Master Plan for the City of Loveland was
developed. One of the recommendations of the Master
Plan was to establish a Fire and Rescue Advisory
Commission, comprised of eight non-fire service
members. The scope of responsibility would be:
1. To serve in an advisory
capacity to the City Council in the implementation of the Fire Protection
Master Plan and future strategic planning for the Fire and Rescue
Department.
2. To serve in an advisory
capacity to the Fire Chief relative to Fire Protection, Rescue and
Emergency Management issues.
It must be emphasized that
the Commissions' primary role is advisory in nature, both to Fire
Department staff and City Council. However, FRAC also has
quasi-judicial responsibilities to hear variance requests related to Fire
Code issues and select sections of the Uniform Building Code and Uniform
Fire Code.
