Environmental Education Volunteer Training

Teach kids to love nature!

Each year, Open Lands & Trails hosts hundreds of children in our environmental education programs at River’s Edge Natural Area and Viestenz-Smith Mountain Park.

We provide free training for volunteers interested in presenting these hands-on programs. No experience or knowledge necessary; all training and materials provided. Volunteers should be in good physical condition. Background check is required.

March 10-13, 2020 (not all sessions are required) from 9:00A - 2:30P

Each day's session is different. Pick the topic(s) that interest you. You may pick more than one day to attend, just keep in mind it's a lot of information to assimilate.

March 10 - Plants & Places
March 11 - Wildlife and Us
March 12 - Urban Wilderness
March 13 - Rare Earth Geoscience

Locations: River's Edge Natural Area (960 W. First St.) and Viestenz-Smith Mountain Park (1211 W. Highway 34)

Want to learn more? Attend our open house on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 5:00-7:00P at the Parks & Recreation Administrative Office, 500 E. Third St., Ste. 200
