The Food Bank for Larimer County and the City of Loveland jointly announce that the City of Loveland Transit (COLT) North Transit Center will move from Orchards Shopping Center to the food bank’s Loveland Food Share at 2600 N. Lincoln Ave., a half mile south of Orchards.
COLT will begin Transit Center operations in the Loveland Food Share parking lot beginning on January 14, 2017.
“The City of Loveland is thrilled with the possibilities that this location partnership will provide for our customers,” said Leah Browder, City of Loveland Public Works Director. “We appreciate the Food Bank’s clear commitment to making a positive difference in our community evidenced in their day-to-day work, and now through this new combined use of its parking lot space.”
Not only does the new opportunity create new synergies, the location is close enough to the old center to have minimal impact on COLT transit riders.
“When the city of Loveland approached us with this idea, it made perfect sense,” said Amy Pezzani, CEO, Food Bank for Larimer County. “The new transit center makes good use of a vacant portion of our property and, even better, provides greater convenience for our Food Share guests who use public transportation.”
This successful execution of the short-term lease allows for City staff to pursue a permanent location and will position COLT well for securing state and federal grants to support that effort.
