Investigation underway in response to officer involved shooting

On 6/8/2017 at approximately 10:11 p.m., multiple Loveland Police Officers were involved in a shooting in the 700 block of N. Namaqua Dr. The Eighth Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team was activated and is currently on scene investigating. N. Namaqua Dr. is closed between E. 1st St. and W. Eisenhower Blvd. The street will remain closed for the next several hours until the on scene investigation is complete. There is no threat to the public related to this incident.
Loveland officers were investigating an attempted traffic stop and subsequent report of a vehicle crash. When they located the suspect vehicle involved, the male suspect fired a weapon. Multiple officers returned fire, striking the suspect, who was later pronounced deceased at the hospital. No other people sustained injuries.
The Eighth Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) has been activated and is on scene, and Fort Collins Police Services is leading the CIRT investigation. The FCPS Public Information Office will coordinate with the multi-agency team to make sure appropriate incident-related information is released in a timely manner.
In accordance with CIRT protocol, Loveland Police Department will handle any information release regarding their personnel. Names of the involved Loveland officers will not be released at this time. The identity of the deceased male suspect will be released by the Larimer County Coroner after next of kin have been notified.
