Longbow Industries, the parent company of Loveland’s LPR Construction Co., notified City Manager Steve Adams by letter on Tuesday, May 21, that they would not pursue a plan to establish an LPR headquarters in downtown Loveland.
LPR had been offered a City economic development incentive that would have provided $750,000 to assist in repurposing the former Larimer County Building at 205 E. Sixth St. for use as a headquarters, anchoring LPR and its workforce in Loveland.
The letter cited project costs, changes in business plans and political factors that led the company to its decision to abandon the downtown plan.
Adams read the letter into the record at Tuesday night’s Loveland City Council meeting. The City Council, then convened as the Board of the Loveland Urban Renewal Authority, voted unanimously to cancel consideration of a measure on Tuesday’s agenda that would have appropriated funds for utilities and maintenance of the building.
