More railroad crossing closures in store for Loveland
Contact: Tom Hacker, 962-2302
Continuation of a Burlington Northern/Santa Fe Railroad maintenance project will close crossings throughout Loveland beginning next week.
The railroad has not provided the City of Loveland with a specific schedule. A BNSF spokesman said the crossing closures that started earlier this week with the closure of the First Street crossing will continue northward throughout the weeks ahead, with the five crossings at Fourth, Sixth, Seventh, 37th and 57th streets affected.
The railroad statement said that crossings in close proximity to others – such as those at Sixth and Seventh streets – may close at the same time.
The work involves two railroad crews operating in sequence. A larger regional project crew will replace and repair track, while a smaller local work crew will follow and perform work on the concrete decking at the crossings.
Notification of specific dates and times for the closures, and maps describing detours, will come on short notice from a BNSF contractor that places signage around the closures.
The City will provide closure details to local media as soon as they become available, and post information on social media channels including the City Facebook page at www.facebook.com/cityoflovelandco and Twitter at www.twitter.com/cityofloveland.
