The mid-term resignation of a Loveland City Council member means that voters in the city’s Ward 1 will fill two seats when they vote in the Nov. 5 general election.

Jeremy Jersvig, who was elected to a four-year City Council term in November 2017, announced his resignation from the Ward 1 seat earlier this month. Ward 1’s other council seat is held by Richard Ball, whose term ends in November.

When voters cast ballots for candidates in Ward 1, the candidate with the most votes will fill the four-year term, while the runner-up will assume the remaining two years of the term Jersvig is vacating.

Petitions for City office candidacy must be delivered to the City Clerk’s Office by 5 p.m. Aug. 26. A drawing will be held in the City Council Chamber on Sept. 4 to determine the ballot order for qualifying candidates.
