Safety: A community conversation
Contact: Tom Hacker, Public Information Officer, 962-2302
The Loveland Public Library and Loveland Police Department will jointly host a forum on community safety from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, in the Gertrude Scott Meeting Room at the library.
For the past year, the Loveland Public Library has facilitated a series of community conversations throughout Loveland to hear directly from our residents about what kind of community they want to live in. What we heard was a desire for a thriving, welcoming and connected city where people feel safe, supported and positive about the future.
This extension of that meeting series is driven partly by a troubling incident that occurred at the library on Nov. 10, 2019, when a teenage library visitor and her younger sibling were harassed by a man outside the library. The alleged assailant was arrested and jailed on harassment, weapons and drug charges.
Here is a guest editorial that addresses the topic by Library Director Diane Lapierre that appeared in the Dec. 8 edition of the Loveland Reporter-Herald.
