Historic Loveland 2006 Art Print Unveiled
The Loveland Historical Society and the
City of Loveland Historic Preservation Commission announce the unveiling
of the Historic Loveland 2006 Art Print at a reception to be held at the
Rialto Theater on Saturday, January 28, 2006 at 10:00 a.m.
The art print, a reproduction of a
pastel drawing by artist Julie R. Maas of Albuquerque N.M., depicts the
historic First National Bank Building at 201 E. 4th Street in
downtown Loveland. The print, 16 inches by 20 inches, will be available
for purchase at the reception, and the cost is $25 for an unsigned
print, and $45 for a limited edition print signed by the artist.
For those unable to attend the
reception, and while supplies last, the print will be sold at the
following locations starting January 28th: Art of the Rockies Gallery
(440 N. Lincoln Ave.); Anthology Book Company (422 E. 4th
Street); Schmidt’s Bakery & Delicatessen (808 14th Street
SW); 1st American Real Estate (1302 Cleveland Ave.) and the
Loveland Museum-Gallery (503 N. Lincoln Ave.).
The Loveland Historical Society, a
non-profit group whose mission is to raise the awareness of local
history through educational programs and events such as the Your Old
House workshop, the annual historic homes tour and cemetery tours, will
donate the proceeds from the sale of the print to the City’s Landmark
Rehabilitation Loan Program. The loan program, established in 2002,
provides zero interest loans to owners of locally designated historic
landmarks for exterior building restoration.
“We are excited to be sponsoring a
project that combines Loveland’s love for the arts with a worthy cause
that we are truly passionate about…preserving the historic and
architectural landmarks of Loveland and the Big Thompson Valley,” stated
Paula Sutton, President of the Loveland Historical Society.
Others have also generously donated to
make the 2006 Historic Art Print possible. Artist Julie R. Maas,
donated the original pastel. Linda and Thomas Ligon, owners of the
historic First National Bank Building, generously donated funds to cover
the expense of print reproduction. Fine Print Imaging of Fort Collin,
donated layout and design services.
“Our hope is that we can continue to
make a new print featuring one of Loveland’s historic landmarks
available every year,” stated Martin Janssen, Chairman of the City’s
Historic Preservation Commission. “We intend to place a call for artist
entries very soon so we can begin the selection process for 2007,”
explained Janssen.
