Building Permit estimator now online
The City of Loveland has added an interactive online service to its web
site that makes obtaining building permit fee estimates faster and
easier for building contractors and City staff. The program allows
builders to simply enter about a dozen pieces of information about their
project and a detailed listing of permit fee and water rights costs is
returned almost instantly.
“The program provides an excellent tool for contractors, enabling them
to include these cost accurately into the business plan for a new
building,” said Loveland Development Services Director Greg George.
“It eliminates surprises at the end of the process.
“The program combines customer convenience to the builders with
administrative efficiency for the City staff. Without leaving their own
office, the builders can prepare the estimate, and it doesn’t require
City staffers’ valuable time and effort,” George added.
The actual program was developed under contract by Loveland resident Dan
Keough. More than three months of effort went into writing and testing
the program.
“The fee estimator really helps both builder and staff. It’s a simple
way to get really close approximations of the costs,” Keough said. Like
all computer programs, the accuracy of the results are dependent on the
accuracy of data input, he stressed.
The program estimates the fees for new residential, business or
commercial buildings planned for construction. Permit fees for
improvements or additions to existing buildings are not calculated by
the program.
