On June 8, 2020 the Planning Commission conducted a public hearing on the proposed UDC amendments.  After discussion, the matter was tabled without setting a future hearing date.  The Commission decided to conduct a study session on the the UDC amendments on Monday, June 22nd at 6:00 pm.  The focus of the study session will be on the definition of "family" as distinguished from the definitions of "rooming house."  The purpose of the study session is to arrive at definitions that the Commission supports, prior to scheduling a follow-up hearing on the UDC amendments.

Citizens are encouraged to provide written comments to staff, prior to the study session, on the definitions noted above or on any other aspect of the UDC amendment package.  Typically, the Commission does not take public comment at study sessions, but will entertain written comments provided in advance by interested citizens.  Please note that any written comments should be provided to the City of Loveland Current Planning Division.  Additional information relative to this matter may be obtained by calling the Current Planning Division at (970) 962-2566.

The June 22nd study session will be televised on Channel 16 and can be live-streamed on

The City of Loveland Current Planning Division has been working with the City Code Enforcement office, the Public Works Department, the Police Department and the City Attorney's office to develop a consolidated Nuisance Abatement Code.

On January 27, 2020, the Planning Commission conducted a public hearing on the proposed ordinance that would create the Nuisance Abatement Code.  The ordinance was tabled to give staff time to research issues and respond to Commissioners' questions.  Due to the COVID-19 emergency, a follow-up study session with the Planning Commission was delayed until May 18th.  A further study session on this matter occurred on June 8th.  A final study session is scheduled for June 22nd.

The proposed ordinance would create new Title 16 - Nuisances - of the Loveland Municipal Code.  The purpose of new Title 16 is to consolidate the City's nuisance regulations and abatement procedures into a single location, making it easier for staff and citizens to locate, understand and use these provisions.  The creation of the new title requires the extraction of existing nuisance provisions from various locations in the Municipal Code and insertion of these provisions into the new title.  With this effort, the nuisance provisions are being updated and clarified.  The portions of the Municipal Code where these provisions have been housed have also been updated and modified to ensure consistency with the Nuisance Abatement Code.  New text also has been added in locations where the nuisance provisions have been extracted to provide clarity and completeness.

In a study session at 6:00 pm on Monday, June 22nd, the Planning Commission will review the draft ordinance.  The expectation is that this will be the final review of the ordinance before it is scheduled for public hearing by the Planning Commission.  The public hearing has not been scheduled, but will likely occur on Monday, July 13th or 27th.

Citizens are encouraged to provide written comments on the proposed Nuisance Ordinance prior to the June 22nd study session.  Written comments will be shared with the Planning Commission.  Please email comments to the Planning Commission Secretary at  If you have questions, contact the Current Planning Division at (970)-962-2523.

The June 22nd study session will be televised on Channel 16 and can be live-streamed on
