Loveland celebrates walk and bike month in June!
Why use a bicycle to get around? Save money on gas, get healthier, burn calories, reduce stress, preserve air quality and reduce traffic congestion.
Bike to Work and Home Day!
Bike-to-Work Day shows residents other ways of getting to work besides driving a car. While it’s common for some to ride their bikes everywhere, others have not tried an alternate method of transportation. If you’ve been thinking about dusting off that bike in the garage, now is the time! If you don’t have a bike but want to participate, try walking to work.
Bike to Work Challenge
- Starting Line: TBA
(but you can sign up until Bike to Work Day)
- Finish Line: Colorado Bike to Work Day, Wednesday June 24th.
Once you have registered, you will be provided with a link to your team’s ride log where you will add your name and your round-trip riding distance. As the Challenge progresses, simply indicate how many days that you rode in the columns provided.
With links in the ride log, you can view log instructions and your team’s ranking on the Challenge Status Charts. The charts will update daily once the Challenge begins.

What is the purpose of this event?
The Bike to Work Challenge is a grassroots effort to encourage more folks to ride their bikes to work. It is intended to promote a fun, healthy, and environment friendly means of getting to and from work.
During the course of the competition, we’ll provide a couple of surveys collecting information on your commute. These surveys will gather information for community leaders to use when ranking and allocating infrastructure funding.
Who can participate?
Colorado school/work-site teams are encouraged to participate.
Are there any fees?
No, participation is free.
Do I need a Google account to participate?
No, those participating must complete a registration form and survey available without a Google account.
How does the Challenge work?
After registering, you will be given access to your team’s ride log. Participants use this to log their commute distance and the days that they ride (or walk) to work.
Each of the ride logs are linked to a master log (only accessible by the BTW Challenge Team). The master log is used to summarize results and update the status charts. A score (normalized by your site size), is calculated from each participant’s ride numbers and the teams are ranked and displayed online.
Will there be any awards?
The City of Loveland sponsors the traveling trophy that the winning team keeps until the following year. For other awards, each group is encouraged to do something special for their own participants. A simple breakfast, with an internal awards ceremony, may be something to consider.
