Mountain Constructors, Inc. began work on the Taft Avenue Bridge Replacement project in July 2017. This project replaces the old bridge between 10th and 11th Streets, across the Big Barnes ditch with a new, wider structure. The alley to the west of North Taft, between the ditch and 11th Street was also paved.

Taft Avenue will also be widened from just north of 8th Street to 11th Street. The total cost of the project is estimated at $1.6 million with $736,000 coming from a federal grant.

The first phase constructed was the east half of the bridge, crews moved to the west side in early November. One lane will be open on the west side, in each direction, to allow for traffic flow. Delays are expected and alternate routes are advised. See traffic control plans below.Taft Bridge TCP for Phase 1
