Case No. 18CW3200, Water Division 1

The United States Department of the Interior filed an application for change of water rights for appropriative rights of exchange. The changes proposed would authorize Rocky Mountain National Park to increase annual diversions by exchange at the Glacier Basin Campground Well beyond the amounts contemplated in the decree in Case No. 09CW263, while reducing the diversions by exchange from the Alpine Visitor Center Surface Diversion. Substitute supply for the exchanges is through the Colorado Big-Thompson Project water released by the Bureau of Reclamation at Lake Estes. The City of Loveland filed a statement of opposition to ensure the changes of the decreed appropriative rights of exchange will not cause injury to Loveland’s water rights and to ensure that the additional amounts to be exchanged will not impact Loveland’s use of its Colorado-Big Thompson entitlements.
