November 5, 2019 Regular Election Information

The following positions are up for election:

Mayor: city at large Ward Map; Two (2) year term
Councilors: Ward I, Ward 2, Ward 3, Ward 4; Four (4) year terms

Qualifications: Candidates for City Council must be a registered elector of the City who has resided in her or her respective ward for at least twelve (12) consecutive months immediately preceding the election; except that, in case the boundaries of the ward are changed pursuant to Section 6-4 or as a result of annexation, residence for the prescribed time period, within territory added to the ward, shall be deemed to meet the residency requirements of the ward to which the territory was added. (Mayoral candidates need to have resided in the City for at least twelve (12) consecutive months.)

Process: Candidate Packets, containing the Nomination Petition, will be available for pickup in June. Petitions must be circulated between August 6th and August 26th and filed no later than August 26, 2019.
Candidates do not have to wait to begin receiving or expending funds. Please see Campaign Finance Information below.

CAMPAIGN FINANCE INFORMATION
Article 17 of the Loveland City Charter governs Campaign Finance in the City of Loveland.
1) For purposes of Campaign Finance, you become a candidate when you publicly announce your intent to seek office and thereafter accept a contribution or make expenditure on behalf of your candidacy. See Committee Registration Form below.
2) You must file a notarized Candidate Affidavit with the City Clerks Office within 10 days of publicly announcing an intention to seek election or retention to public office.

CONTRIBUTION LIMITS:
Beginning January 1, 2015, "No person may make contributions and/or contributions in kind totaling more than one hundred and fifteen dollars ($115.00) to the candidate committee of any candidate for the office of Mayor or for any position on the City Council." This is an increase from the $105.00, set in 2010. City Charter section 17-5(a)

COMMITTEE REGISTRATION FORM
This form must be submitted prior to accepting any contributions.

CANDIDATE AFFIDAVIT
This form is due within 10 days after a candidate formally declares they intend to run for Council.

CAMPAIGN FINANCE REPORTING FORMS - LONG VERSION & SHORT VERSION
Instruction for filling out forms:
NOTE: PLEASE DOWNLOAD FORMS; FILL OUT COMPLETELY; SAVE; AND EMAIL TO THE CITY CLERK.

Reports must be current as of two days prior to the filing date. Reports must be received by 5:00 p.m. on the established deadline date. Forms containing an original signature must be received in the City Clerk's office by 5:00 p.m. the next business day.
