1) A registered Elector in the State of Colorado, City of Loveland and a resident of your Ward. (The Mayor is nominated and elected from the City at large.) To see if you are registered check the Secretary of State's website:

2) Must have lived in your Ward for a period of at least 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the election;(If your residence has been annexed into your Ward within the last 12 months, please contact the City Clerk to see if you still meet the qualification, 970-962-2322.)
3) Never have been convicted of: embezzlement of public funds; bribery, perjury, solicitation of bribery, subordination of perjury, or a willful violation of the City Charter. (a back ground check will be conducted)
4) Council members shall continue to meet the requirements throughout their term.
Nomination petitions will be available August 5, 2019 and must be circulated between August 6th and August 26th and filed no later than August 26, 2019 at 5:00 p.m.
Candidates do not have to wait to begin receiving or expending funds. Please see Campaign Finance Information below.
CAMPAIGN FINANCE INFORMATIONArticle 17 of the Loveland City Charter governs campaign finance in the City of Loveland. 1) For purposes of campaign finance, you become a candidate when you publicly announce your intent to seek office and thereafter accept a contribution or make an expenditure on behalf of your candidacy. See Committee Registration Form below. 2) You must file a notarized Candidate Affidavit with the City Clerks Office within 10 days of publicly announcing an intention to seek election or retention to public office. CONTRIBUTION LIMITS:
Beginning January 1, 2015, "No person may make contributions and/or contributions in kind totaling more than one hundred and fifteen dollars ($115.00) to the candidate committee of any candidate for the office of Mayor or for any position on the City Council." This is an increase from the $105.00, set in 2010. City Charter section 17-5(a)

This form is due within 10 days after a candidate formally declares they intend to run for Council.

Reports must be current as of two days prior to the filing date. Reports must be received by 5:00 p.m. on the established deadline date. Forms containing an original signature must be received in the City Clerk's office by 5:00 p.m. the next business day.
