Fire Station 3 Faces a Number of Significant Deficiencies

Fire Station 3, located at 900 S. Wilson Avenue, was constructed 39 years ago. The aging facility has many deficiencies, including:

  • Undersized dorm, restroom and locker space
  • A lack of gender privacy due to an insufficient number of dorm rooms and restrooms
  • A lack of support space for apparatus bays
  • Bay not compliant with NFPA (apparatus exhaust)
  • No lobby or public restrooms

Proposal Calls for Replacement of Fire Station 3

The current proposal calls for replacement of Fire Station 3 in 2025, when the station reaches 45 years old. Under an intergovernmental agreement between the City and Loveland Fire Rescue Authority (LFRA), the City is responsible for replacement/upgrade of existing fire stations that are leased to LFRA.

New Fire Station Would Provide Much-Needed Space

The location of the new station will be evaluated to ensure appropriate response criteria, and increased in size from 5,880 to appropriately 10,400 square feet. The new station would include:

  • Apparatus bay areas
  • An area for vehicle maintenance and the maintenance and support of emergency response equipment
  • Training area
  • Administrative space
  • Dorm rooms, day room, fitness area and bathrooms
  • Kitchen
  • Lobby
