Loveland’s Recreation Center is Operating Well Beyond Its Design Capacity

Based on the results of the 2015 Recreation Center Feasibility Study, Loveland is well short of the recognized standard for recreation centers in the community. In fact, the Chilson Recreation Center in Loveland is currently operating, on average, 30% over design capacity. During school holidays, as well as from January to May, the facility is operating at 50% over design capacity.

There is a high level of public interest in additional indoor recreation space, indoor and outdoor leisure pool aquatics, exercise space for fitness, wellness and aerobics, and indoor sport court space.

Northwest Quadrant of City is a Possible Location for the New Community Recreation Center

The proposal calls for a new 80,000 square foot Community Recreation Center to be located in the Northwest quadrant of the City. A possible location is Mehaffey Park on a 10- to 15-acre site.

There are Many Amenities and Programs Being Considered for the New Recreation Center

While the amenities at the proposed new Community Recreation Center will not be finalized until additional community input is gathered, some of the options being considered include:

  • Warm Water Leisure Pool
