Established in 1983, the Loveland Parks
and Recreation Foundation is a nonprofit corporation which promotes and
encourages the advancement of parks and recreation opportunities in
Loveland.
The Foundation is governed by a board of citizens who meet on a monthly
basis, and carry on the activities of the organization. Fund-raising and
providing a means for interested citizens to make donations in support of
the services, programs and facilities of the Loveland Parks and Recreation
Department are the main functions of the Foundation.
There are many programs managed by the Foundation including a very popular
Youth & Family Scholarship Program, Park Tree & Bench Donation
Program and Cemetery Donation Program.
Supporters of the Loveland Parks and Recreation Foundation can take pride
in their contribution to the quality of life in Loveland. Whether it is
the sound of children playing in one of our many parks, the shade of a

the entire Loveland community benefits from the efforts of the Loveland

Donations:
As a result of its tax-exempt, nonprofit
organization status, several donations are received through the Foundation
each year for the parks system.
Donations range from cash to flowers, to benches and trees. The Foundation
solicits grants and other private & public funds to enhance its
efforts and stretch available resources. Many donors feel the Foundation
is an excellent mechanism to provide community assets or to make
contributions in honor of their loved ones.
Tree Donations
Each year the Foundation accepts a number of
donations for trees to be planted at a park, in the cemetery, on the golf
courses, or along the Recreational Trail System. Donors work with the City
staff to determine appropriate planting locations. A tree is a donation
that keeps on giving to the community for years to come.
Bench Donations
Benches are a very popular donation item for
parks, the cemetery, the golf courses and the Recreational Trail System.
Often benches are donated in memory of a loved one. Appropriate bench
locations are coordinated with City staff. Small plaques may be placed on
the benches in accordance with the Citys’’ Plaque Policies.
Other Donations
The Foundation also accepts donations for a
number of other special projects or needs. Donors have made contributions
for Youth Scholarships, Adaptive Recreation Programs, a Youth Athletic
Complex, a Skate Park, Flowers and Recreational Equipment.
Donors to the Loveland Parks and Recreation Foundation can take pride in
their contribution to the quality of life in Loveland. Whether it is the
sounds of children playing in one of our many parks, the shade of a
majestic tree, or the satisfaction gained from completing a special class,
the entire Loveland community has something to gain from the efforts of
the Loveland Parks and Recreation Foundation.
If you are interested in making a donation to the City through the
Loveland Parks and Recreation Foundation, please contact us and we will
arrange the details with you.

Scholarships:
Loveland’s Parks and Recreation Foundation is
proud of the impact it has had on the community through its scholarship
program. Since its inception in 1990, the Scholarship Program has enabled
some 3200 individuals to participate in recreational programs. Without
financial assistance, these individuals would not have had the opportunity
to participate.
How Does The Scholarship Program Work?
The Scholarship Program pays for financially
needy families to participate in classes listed in the Parks and
Recreations’ Leisure Times activity brochure. Families requesting
assistance have a referral agency complete a scholarship application on
their behalf. Attached to the application is the activity registration
form for the specific program or activity the family is requesting. Once a
request is approved, the Loveland Parks and Recreation Foundation will pay
for that activity on behalf of the family.
Criteria
w 0-12th grade
(and some exception for adults).
w Must live in the R2J School District.
w Family can demonstrate need for financial
assistance.
w Must have a current Scholarship
Application completed by community referral agency.
w Funds are allocated quarterly.
w $130 maximum per child, per year (Jan.-
Dec.)
w One activity per child, per quarter.
w New application required each year.
w Must choose an activity or program
available through the Loveland Parks and Recreation Program.
Referral Agencies
Referral agencies are community organizations or
individuals who have the ability to identify individuals in the community
who may benefit from the program. Referral agencies include teachers,
school administrators, counselors, recreation coordinators, social service
agencies and churches.
Application Process
1. Get an application form from the Parks and
Recreation Administration Office or from a referral agency.
2. Choose the requested activity in the Parks and Recreation Activity
Brochure. Complete the activity registration form and attach it to the
scholarship application.
3. Complete the family information on the scholarship form and have the
referral agency complete the referral agency information.
4. Return the application and registration to:
Administrative/Business Manager
Parks and Recreation Foundation
500 East Third Street
Loveland, CO 80537
(970) 962-2443
5. Once the completed scholarship request is received, it will be
processed on a funding and space available basis.
6. If approved, applicants will be registered for their desired activity
(if available) and will be notified within one week by mail.
Where Do The Funds Come From?

The City of Loveland contributes funds toward the Youth Scholarship
Program by providing matching funding to the Foundation for its

Foundation Fund Raisers:

Crafts Festival.
Grants, Donations & Memorials:
Families and individuals make donations to the Foundation to assist those
with financial needs or as a memorial to someone who has passed away.
Donations to the scholarship program are welcomed and encouraged. In
addition, the Foundation Board applies for available grants and matching
funds to maximize resources.
