Our annual Public Works Day
celebration took place Tuesday, May 11th at Fairgrounds
Park. The public and all public
elementary schools were invited to come and
learn about what our department does for the community. In
spite of the chilly temperatures, approximately 1600
children and adults attended. This event is made
possible by the generous donations of our vendor-sponsors.
Students had a great time
learning about everything that Public Works does for them.
We are
the largest department within the city and are comprised of 12 divisions
and approximately 140 employees. Our divisions include:
Administration; Facilities Management; Project Engineering;
Streets; Solid Waste; Stormdrain Maintenance, Stormwater
Engineering, Traffic Engineering, Transit/COLT,
Transportation Development Review, Vehicle Maintenance, and
the Ft Collins-Loveland Airport.
Students received foam
gliders, ice pops, popcorn, temporary tattoos, nylon back
packs and much more. They were treated to a Bubble
Party experience compliments of Solid Sound Entertainment
and had fun playing in the inflatables provided by Kidz Fit
and Grand Rental Station.
