is being used at several locations to aid with traffic responsiveness and
efficiency.

station at
1st|Taft is nearing completion which will aid the city street
department with weather predictions and maintenance.
Emergency fire and
ambulance preemption units
are installed at most traffic signal locations. These units save valuable
seconds for emergency personnel responding to life and death situations.
Fiber-optic cable
is being installed to enhance communication to local traffic controllers.
 Traffic Signals
The Traffic control signal (traffic
signal) is a type of highway traffic signal by which traffic is
alternately directed to stop and permitted to proceed. The traffic
signals are valuable devices for the control of vehicles and pedestrians
and assigning the right-of-way to the various traffic movements.
Traffic Signal Warrants
A comprehensive investigation of traffic conditions and physical
characteristics of a location are required to determine the necessity of
a signal installation and to furnish necessary data for the proper
design and operation if a signal is warranted.
